Girls Gone Gravel and Feisty Media launch the Gone Graveling Festival, the first Women’s Gravel Festival in Bentonville, AR

The new event will be focused on educational clinics, rides, and building community for women gravel cyclists of all levels.

Victoria, B.C. – December 6, 2021 /SPORTSWIRE WOMEN/ – Girls Gone Gravel and Feisty Media are proud to announce the first of its kind women’s gravel festival, the Gone Graveling Festival. The event will take place April 28 – May 1, 2022, in Bentonville, Arkansas, and is open to any person who identifies as a woman. The festival will include three days of educational clinics, group rides, and community gatherings.

Kathryn Taylor, the founder of Girls Gone Gravel, envisioned a women’s gravel festival in early 2020.

“I always knew this was the type of event I wanted to create for the women in our community. There are a lot of incredible races and camps out there but I wasn’t seeing a dedicated space for women to show up and just celebrate their love of cycling, learn at their own pace, and connect with the larger community,” Taylor says. “After having several women from Bentonville as guests on the podcast, I knew it was a strong contender to host our first festival. After visiting the area in June, I knew we needed to make it happen. I’m excited to work with the cycling community in Bentonville to create an amazing experience for women who visit the area.”

Running the on-the-ground logistics is Aimee Ross, Bentonville resident and the creator of women-specific events like the Uprising Mountain Bike Summit for women. Ross is excited to bring this event to Bentonville because of the potential growth she sees for the area as a premier gravel destination.

“Bentonville has quickly become a staple for many mountain bikers across the local community, the US, and the globe,” Ross says. “What many still don’t know is the amount of sweet gravel cycling adventures around Northwest Arkansas. I’m super excited to see Girls Gone Gravel put together their first gravel festival and even more stoked to have it in our backyard. Bentonville is the perfect community for bikes, culture, and experiences nestled in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. We can’t wait to help welcome more cyclists to the area.”

Cycling veterans like Scotti Lechuga and Selene Yeager are confirmed as clinic facilitators and ride hosts.

Registration for the event opens on December 7, 2021. Registration is limited to 250 women, with up to 20 spots reserved for BIPOC women.
