JoGon And EVRi Team Up To Offer Home Collection in The UK

October 11, 2024

Launching this Recycle Week (14 – 20 October) at a cost of just £3.00 to support

October 11th, /SPORTSWIRE WOMEN/ – This Recycle Week sees JogOn and EVRi launch their first Home Collection Service together, enabling you to recycle your unwanted trainers easily from home for as little as 10p per pair!

JogOn is a national campaign that works to repurpose unwanted trainers and prevent them from going into landfill. Together with its delivery partner EVRi, they are now offering JogOn’s first home collection service across the UK. To support the cause, it will cost just £3.00 to send a box of trainers weighing up to 15kg – that’s just 10p per pair if a box of 30 pairs is sent!

With an estimated 33 million pairs of running shoes ending up in landfill each year, a whopping 70,000 pairs have been collected and saved from landfill since the start of the JogOn campaign in 2021. Out of these, some 60,000 pairs still in good enough condition to be re-used, have been sent to their charity partners, NGOs or micro-economies across the UK and overseas, and given to people who need them most. Those that are end of life, which is only 8-10% to date, are disposed of sustainably in the UK via a waste-to-energy plant where electricity is generated from incinerating waste.

There are now over 300 JogOn collection partners in the UK at sites including leisure centres, gyms, offices, universities, and even prestigious locations like The Queens Club in London and Cliveden House in Berkshire. Thanks to EVRi, members of the public as well as JogOn partners, can now more easily get their shoe collections to JogOn with the Home Collection Service.

Tony Piedade, founder of JogOn, said: “We are so excited about this evolution of our partnership with EVRi, making it easier than ever to now donate to a worthy and sustainable cause. We are enormously grateful to EVRi, to all our partners, and to our community who make a difference every day to prolonging the life of trainers to support our planet and others in need.”
