First-ever International Women’s Sports Film Festival coming to Portland

March 25, 2026

The first‑ever International Women’s Sports Film Festival (IWSFF) will debut in Portland, Oregon, from May 1–3, 2026, at the Judy Kafoury Center for Youth Arts.

The IWSFF is the first global film festival dedicated entirely to stories about women and nonbinary athletes, featuring documentaries, narrative films, and shorts from around the world. Its mission is to empower women, elevate their achievements in sports, and spotlight gender‑equity issues through cinema.

The festival is anchored by The Sports Bra (Portland’s women‑sports‑only bar), LGBTQ+ documentary festival QDoc, and The Idea Factory, with Jenny Nguyen, Molly King, and Kimiko Matsuda leading the effort. Programming will include roughly 12 films, talkbacks with subjects, panel discussions, and a preview screening of the Dawn Staley documentary The Moment on April 11. KPTV
