Alexis Ohanian ‘paying US$20m’ for women’s TGL franchise
March 27, 2026
The tech entrepreneur is the second TGL franchise owner to commit to the women’s competition, joining Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank, who Sportico says also paid US$20 million to secure a team in February.
Ohanian has established himself as one of the most prominent investors in women’s sport, with stakes in Women’s Super League (WSL) side Chelsea and League One Volleyball’s LA-based franchise. He was also previously the majority shareholder of National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team Angel City FC and backs women’s track and field venture Athlos.
To that end, Ohanian previously revealed that he invested in the TGL under the condition that he would have first right of refusal for any future LA women’s TGL team, an option he has now exercised. SportsPro
