NBC tabs Hall of Famer Sue Bird for WNBA analyst job
April 8, 2026
Former UConn and WNBA star Sue Bird is expected to be named as an analyst for NBC Sports’ coverage of the WNBA games this season, according to a report from Front Office Sports.
The report doesn’t say whether Bird will be in the studio or calling games live on NBC and Peacock, as the network returns to covering the WNBA and NBA this season. The network previously aired WNBA games from 1997 to 2002.
Bird, a 2025 inductee in the Basketball Hall of Fame, won a pair of national championships at Connecticut before going on to become a 13-time All-Star and four-time WNBA champion with the Seattle Storm before retiring after the 2022 season. She also won a record five gold medals as a member of the U.S. Olympic women’s basketball team. USA TODAY
