The series highlights prominent women’s races that give female athletes a space to celebrate and engage with other women in the multisport community.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. /SPORTSWIRE WOMEN/ – USA Triathlon today announced the 15 women’s-focused multisport events that are a part of the inaugural USA Triathlon Women’s Series. The series highlights prominent women’s races across the country that give female athletes, from beginner to experienced, a space to celebrate and engage with other women in the multisport community.
“Our sport has always been unique in that the pioneers of our sport established parity from the early days of professional racing and that parity has become a part of the foundation of our sport at all levels,” said Victoria Brumfield, USA Triathlon CEO. “We appreciate the work being done by these local race directors who are carrying on this tradition and supporting more opportunities for women to get involved in our sport as it’s one of our organization’s guiding principles and at the core of what we do.”
Qualification is not required to participate in the USA Triathlon Women’s Series, which spans the multisport season from May through October. Race series participants will receive special USA Triathlon Women’s Series stickers, as well as recognition on usatriathlon.org and USA Triathlon’s social channels. Series participants can collect points for prizes by racing multiple events in the Series. Events in the USA Triathlon Women’s Series feature a variety of different race distances and formats, including sprint- and Olympic-distance triathlons, aquabikes (swim-bike), aquathlon (swim-run), duathlons (run-bike-run), relay categories and youth events.
Training plans written by female USA Triathlon Certified Coaches are available for race participants and each event will feature a happy hour with members of the USA Triathlon Women’s Committee and female USA Triathlon Certified Coaches, giving race participants a platform to ask their questions.
As part of USA Triathlon’s commitment to and support for local racing, each event in the USA Triathlon’s Women’s Series receives increased marketing and communications support to drive registration, including promotion on USA Triathlon’s website and social media pages. Women’s Series Race Directors are also eligible to apply for USA Triathlon’s Gatorade Endurance Race Director Program, which provides Gatorade Endurance formula to select USA Triathlon Sanctioned events.
