BOA elects Grainger as first female president

November 29, 2024

The British Olympic Association shaped the narrative with the election of Dame Katherine Grainger as its first female head in 120 years, as was revealed on Thursday. The former Olympic rowing champion will lead Team GB towards Milan-Cortina 2026 and LA28 with a renewed vision and unique expertise.

Great Britain reached a milestone regarding its latest decision. For the first time, a woman—say, a legend—will assume the role of president. The 49-year-old will take office in early 2024, succeeding Sir Hugh Robertson. This appointment represents both progress in gender equality within British sport and also an opportunity to revitalise Team GB’s role on the international stage. Inside The Games
