Angel City co-founder targets ‘minority stake’ in Chelsea women’s team

January 20, 2025

Kara Nortman, one of the co-founders of the National Women’s Soccer League’s (NWSL) Angel City, is reportedly exploring the purchase of a minority stake in Women’s Super League (WSL) champions Chelsea through her Monarch Collective investment platform.

According to Sky News, Monarch Collective is among the parties eyeing a minority interest in the Blues’ women’s team. Talks between the pair are said to have reached a detailed stage, although there is purportedly no certainty that an agreement will be reached.

English soccer giants Chelsea transferred control of their women’s team to the BlueCo holding company last June, a move that reportedly prompted a probe from the Premier League to ensure the deal was done for fair market value. SportsPro
