National Champions, World Champions and Olympians Will Be Competing at The Into The Lion’s Den Powered By SRAM Women’s Race

TOP U.S. AND EUROPEAN WOMEN’S RIDERS WILL GO TOE-TO-TOE ON THE STREETS OF DOWNTOWN SACRAMENTO ON OCTOBER 30TH

SACRAMENTO, CA (October 20, 2021) /SPORTSWIRE WOMEN/ — Into the Lion’s Den powered by SRAM announced the women’s teams racing in Sacramento, CA on October 30th. The women’s race will feature top U.S. trade teams, including L39ION of Los Angeles, Rally Pro Cycling and Twenty-24 Cycling Team, plus international powerhouse Team SD Worx and riders representing Team DSM and LIV Cycling Team.

Women’s riders from the top international and U.S. cycling teams will compete for the largest Women’s prize purse in U.S. criterium racing history. Seventeen teams featuring Olympians, World Champions and National Champions will be sprinting around the Capitol grounds chasing the $50,000 prize purse.

“Spectators will be inspired by the women’s field on October 30th. Into the Lion’s Den powered by SRAM has one of the best women’s crit fields competing on U.S. soil in years,” said Justin Williams, top U.S. Road racer, founder of Into the Lion’s Den and L39ION of Los Angeles. “We are proud to give the top U.S. riders the opportunity to test their abilities against women who just competed in the Tokyo Olympics and the recent Road World Championships.”

My season was over after the Road World Championships but I added Into the Lion’s Den to my calendar because I grew up racing criteriums and want to give back to that style of racing. And of course, I love racing on home soil and in front of my home-state California fans”, said Coryn Rivera (Tustin, CA – Team DSM), 2020 U.S. Olympian and 72-time National Champion.

Other notable riders that will be racing on the streets of Sacramento include: current U.S. Crit National Champion and U.S. Olympian Kendall Ryan (Ventura, CA – L39ION of Los Angeles); Track World Champion and U.S. Bronze Olympic medalist Lily Williams (Colorado Springs, CO – Rally Pro Cycling); Dutch National Champion and two-time Track World Champion Amy Pieters (NED – Team SD Worx); Winner of the 2021 of The Women’s Tour, La Course by Le Tour de France and Liege-Bastogne-Liege Femmes Demi Vollering (NED – Team SD Worx) and two-time 2021 Canadian National Champion Alison Jackson (CAN – LIV Cycling Team).

12:00 – 7:00 p.m.        Bike Festival: Learn, play and enjoy – bike street festival with music, food, and exhibitors showcasing the best of the sport of cycling

1:00 – 1:45 p.m.          Community Halloween Event: Families can casually bike or walk the criterium loop around the State Capitol grounds in costume. A judging panel will be awarding costume prizes at the finish line

2:30 – 3:20 p.m.          Amateur Open Race: 50 minutes of racing

3:40 – 4:50 p.m.          Pro Women’s Race: 70 minutes of racing

5:00 – 6:10 p.m.          Pro Men’s Race: 70 minutes of racing

6:20 – 6:40 p.m.          Awards
