Oiselle Selects Five Athletes For “Year of the Underbird” OTQ Sponsorship

September 22, 2023

Selected athletes represent up-and-coming talent in the marathon field

Seattle, Wash. (September 22, 2023)/SPORTSWIRE WOMEN/ – Oiselle, an innovator and leader in the women’s running space, is excited to announce the athletes selected to receive their “Year of the Underbird” sponsorship in preparation for the 2024 Olympic Marathon Trials in Orlando, FL. Oiselle has selected four unsponsored Olympic hopeful athletes, as well as one “wildcard” athlete to receive training support ahead of the Trials.

Designed to break down barriers to entry and support emerging talent, Oiselle’s groundbreaking sponsorship program includes a stipend, gear, promotional, and community support through Oiselle’s Volée, and a potential bonus should the athlete make the US Olympic team.

The selected athletes represent a wide range of experience and backgrounds, a distinction of the community Oiselle works to foster:

  • Ariane Hendrix Roach (OR)
  • Carrie Verdon (CO)
  • Molly Bookmyer (OH)
  • Elena Hayday (DC)
  • Wildcard Athlete: Briana Boehmer (CO)

“We had such a great breadth of women apply for this program, and each of them had compelling stories driving them to their Olympic goals,” says Justine Fédronic, Oiselle’s Community and Athlete Partnership Manager. “Each of these women embody Oiselle’s values, and highlight the determination and resilience it takes to perform in the Marathon at the highest level. We can’t wait to support each of these women through their training, share their unique stories to the Trials starting line, and welcome them into our community of empowerment.”

The Underbird benefits include housing and transportation costs associated with the Olympic Trials, a $2,000 health and training stipend, an athlete essentials kit of Oiselle gear plus another $1,000 gear stipend, pregnancy protections, and the potential for a $50,000 bonus if the athlete makes the U.S. Olympic team. Briana Boehmer, the selected “wildcard” athlete, will be seeking to achieve the Trials Qualifying standard within the requisite time frame — once this qualifying standard is achieved, Boehmer will become a full member of the Underbird athlete team. Additionally, Oiselle will be working to highlight their individual athletic journeys to elevate the unique qualities each athlete possesses and the unconventional paths that have led them to their current Olympic training ambitions.
