July 9, 2024
Reign players Lu Barnes, Jess Fishlock and Olivia Van der Jagt and NJ/NY Gotham FC’s Sam Hiatt headline a host of new investors set to bring a USL W, an amateur women’s soccer league, team to Ballard. The pre-professional soccer team will be a sister club to Ballard FC, with the new stakeholders sharing ownership to help provide a pathway for all soccer players to reach first-division teams.
Ballard FC made the announcement Tuesday, adding that former soccer player and athletic trainer Tiffany Mallick was hired as a vice president who’ll oversee the women’s team. Club name and branding will debut this fall and the team is expected to play its inaugural season in May 2025 at Interbay Stadium. There are also plans for doubleheaders with their brother club.
