Rock Fight – The Bold New Voice in Outdoor Media Debuts at Summer Outdoor Retailer

June 10, 2024

Irreverent and insightful outdoor industry podcast will launch new spinoff at Outdoor Retailer

San Diego, CA – June 10, 2024 /SPORTSWIRE WOMEN/ – Rock Fight, an unapologetically honest and fiercely entertaining outdoor industry podcast is set to make its live debut at the 2024 Summer Outdoor Retailer show with its new spinoff series Gear & Beer. Co-hosts and outdoor industry veterans Colin True and Justin Housman will comb the aisles of Summer OR looking for the most notable new gear to highlight on the Live from OR Gear and Beer show. As the podcast’s name suggests, the pair will also be sipping craft beers from Utah’s own Uinta Brewing and Wasatch Brewery while discussing trends and gear they’ve seen at the show.

“With all of the changes going on in our industry – from retail, to supply chain, to the media itself – we want Rock Fight to inject a little levity and honesty into the discussion,” says True. “Much like we do as friends and colleagues when we’re together.”

Since the premiere of its debut episode in December 2022, The Rock Fight has become a bold new platform dedicated to challenging the status quo in outdoor media. With the tagline “an outdoor podcast that aims for the head” Rock Fight tackles industry norms and questionable ideas with a fresh perspective, offering topical, relatable, and engaging content for everyone from the seasoned outdoor industry professional to those with a general interest in the outdoors. The podcast is hosted by twenty-year outdoor industry veteran Colin True and veteran outdoor journalist and Senior Editor of Adventure Journal Justin Housman. True and Housman offer an insider’s perspective, fostering a mix of unfiltered discussion and lighthearted banter about everything outdoor industry from trending news, gear, and environmental policies to fun, offbeat topics like the best layers for the ice planet Hoth. Notable guests have included Paddy O’Connell, GearJunkie Founder Stephen Regenold, DirtBag Diaries’ Fitz Cahall, and others.

Rock Fight’s Gear and Beer segment takes a fresh approach to gear reviewing by pairing a piece of gear with a craft beer or other beverage. The success of the weekly feature has prompted the team to launch a stand-alone Gear and Beer spinoff that will air once weekly. True, who spent many years in the industry working on the retail floor, as a tech rep, and a sales and marketing executive; and Housman, who’s spent most of his career as a writer and professional gear reviewer, and who is also a Certified Cicerone (beer expert), uniquely discuss and review the latest outdoor gear over a notable craft beer and sometimes nonalcoholic beverages that perfectly pair with the gear. At the end of the show, the pair rate the gear based on its purpose, the nature of its innovation, and the benefit to the outdoor activity it serves.

“We’ve built a podcast that reflects the conversations people have at the trailhead, while sweaty and filthy after a long day riding bikes, or sitting around a campfire, with beers in hand, and minds running wild,” says Housman.

Attendees of the show are invited to attend Rock Fight’s Gear & Beer live show on Tuesday, June 18 at 3:30 at The Ranger Station.
