WNBA and AWS Announce Multi-Year Partnership to Drive Fan Engagement, Innovation and Growth

May 7, 2026

The Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced a multi-year partnership on May 7, 2026, aimed at boosting fan engagement, advanced analytics, and league growth. AWS becomes the Official Cloud and Cloud AI Partner of the WNBA and joins the WNBA Changemakers Collective, marking its first collaboration with a women’s professional sports league.

Central to the deal is “WNBA Inside the Game powered by AWS,” a new platform delivering AI-driven insights from real-time player tracking data across the WNBA App, WNBA.com, and live games. It introduces novel metrics like WNBA Gravity (measuring off-ball defensive impact) and WNBA Shot Difficulty, helping fans better appreciate plays and strategies.

AWS will also serve as the Presenting Partner for WNBA Live, a fan festival during the AT&T WNBA All-Star 2026 in Chicago on July 24-25. WNBA Chief Growth Officer Colie Edison and AWS’s Kristin Shaff highlighted the partnership’s role in innovation and elevating women’s basketball as the league enters its 30th season. BusinessWire
