Lindsay Shumlas Joins as Dynamic Leader to BCorp Brand; Cotopaxi Partner Stephan Jacob Assumes Strategic Growth Role

Salt Lake City, UT. April 18, 2024/SPORTSWIRE WOMEN/ – Certified B Corporation™ and impact-driven adventure lifestyle brand, Cotopaxi, welcomes Lindsay Shumlas to the team, in a first for the company combined CFO and COO role. Shumlas takes the COO reins from Cotopaxi executive Stephan Jacob who has held the COO title for 10 years since co-founding the benefit corporation adventure lifestyle brand in 2014 alongside Board Chairman Davis Smith.

Shumlas joins the brand from previous CFO/COO and CEO positions at Manhattan Beachwear and VICI. Her extensive experience in developing and implementing functional strategies for finance, IT, operations and legal lend themselves well to Cotopaxi’s growth trajectory. Shumlas has a reputation as a dynamic leader with strengths in strategy execution, team building, structured problem solving, and quantitative analysis.

Assuming leadership over Finance and Accounting, as well as Planning, Customer Experience, Circularity, Operations and the Distribution Center, Shumlas will strengthen the connectivity between Cotopaxi’s finance and operational teams. Shumlas shared that she “joined Cotopaxi largely because of the brand’s incredible mission and growth trajectory. I am personally extremely passionate about Cotopaxi’s purpose-led model and the opportunities for the development of impact-focused brands to reach people across the world as a positive force and aspirational company.”

Jacob moves into the new role of Chief Technology and Business Development Officer, with a concerted focus on long term international growth development. The brand has its sights set on becoming a veritable global force for good, positioning its social, humanitarian and environmental efforts at the epicenter of its expansion strategy under Jacob’s direction.

“As we look toward the future, Cotopaxi is poised to become the leading impact-driven global outdoor brand”, said Cotopaxi CEO Damien Huang. “As such, we are investing in next generation talent and aligning skill sets with our opportunities to help chart a course forward. This includes the appointment of Lindsay in this exciting new role that leverages her immense experience and strengths, and looking to Stephan to put the founder hat back on and define and lead our international growth strategy.”

Cotopaxi’s work is centered around global poverty alleviation and humanitarian causes and is supported by the Cotopaxi Foundation, through which a portion of every product sold is routed to give back and do lasting good.

Shumlas will continue to be based in Newport Beach, California, with her family, and enjoys outdoor adventures and travel with her husband and two teenage children.
